Sergey Brin, a Google co-founder told reporters that antisemitism in the former Soviet Union forced his family to emigrate. Both of Google’s founders, as well as some of its top brass have been spending significant time in Israel, making some wonder if there isn’t a major deal brewing over there.

Google.org, the “do good” arm of Google invested $10 million as part of a $115 Million venture capital investment in BrightSource Energy, devoted to designing and building large scale solar plants that deliver low-cost solar energy in the form of steam and/or electricity, at prices competitive with fossil fuels, to industrial and utility customers worldwide.

Kevin Maney suggests in Wired that Mark Hurd of HP bought EDS to position it for leadership in the “red hot” arena of “cloud computing.” We suggest that the real future growth will come from “software as services” sitting on the computer cloud. We also believe that Mark Hurd knows something we don’t know, and that the other shoe is yet to drop.

CNN quotes Fortune regarding many employee departures from Google who went on to fund their own companies and wonders if the best is past. Still, it allows that “maybe” Google is doing really innovative things and that the best still lies ahead.

Google, parent of YouTube and News Corp, the parent of MySpace are rumored to be in talks to acquire Blinkx, which just launched its video indexing technology. Blinkx analyst at Piper Jaffery thinks it’s a good idea, as does Ashkan Karbasfrooshan.
